LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -- La Crosse Police confirm that the body found earlier this evening in the Black River is 23-year-old Shalim Augustine.

A statement from police said that his body was found north of his last observed location on the night he went missing. A La Crosse Fire Department spokesperson said they were called to the river at 6:10 pm after a boater discovered a body in the water. A fire department crew recovered the body about 15 minutes later. According to police, there were no visible signs of trauma. An autopsy is planned for Saturday morning in Madison.

The department is asking that anyone who may have seen someone matching Augustine's description late Tuesday July 8 or early in the morning of July 9 to contact the department. Authorities said Augustine would have been near Copeland Park or walking in the Copeland Avenue or Rose Street area around the time of his disappearance. Augustine is described as 5'09", 145 lbs, and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a pink button-up shirt, tan cargo shorts, black sandals, and black sunglasses.
